Welcome to New Jersey Orthopedic and Sports Massage, also known as, NJOSM.
Massage therapy has been clinically proven to treat and eliminate pain, tension, and dysfunction within the body; our goal at NJOSM is to provide you with that relief. Pain is not normal… it is the body’s way of communicating that something is wrong. We don’t believe in superficially treating the pain symptom–our approach is to perform as many assessments as necessary to uncover and correct the root cause of the pain. Our aim is to restore function in the body as quickly as possible so you can get back to doing what you do best. Our massage specialties include orthopedic, medical, deep tissue, and sports. We utilize a wide variety of treatment modalities including manual therapy, pin and stretch, PNF stretching, cupping, IASTM (instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization/scraping), KT taping, MPS, scar tissue treatment, concentric and eccentric loading, and more. Our practice is run by a Corrective Exercise Specialist so you can typically expect a few strength exercises and stretches for homework to help your results last longer and prevent future injuries.
Melissa Varjan
LMT, OMT, CCT, CES
While completing a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Melissa began taking a strong interest in fitness and yoga. A few years after simultaneously completing her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training and Certified Personal Training course, Melissa owned and operated a small yoga and personal training studio. It was in this studio that she realized how often her clients were needlessly suffering from injury and bio-mechanical dysfunction. Her desire to better serve her clients prompted her to study massage therapy and becoming licensed in the state of New Jersey. Melissa’s continuing education credentials include Orthopedic Massage Therapist, Corrective Exercise Specialist, Youth Specialist, Senior Specialist, E-RYT500, Contemporary Cupping Therapist, KT Taping Specialist, and Prenatal Specialist. She now combines her knowledge of massage therapy, exercise, and anatomy to help clients from all walks of life at NJOSM.
